There's a "don't ask...don't tell" syndrome that is common among JW's. So long as you don't say anthing outloud....draw any lines in the sand, you can get by doing pretty much whatever you want. You can have a dinner on Thanksgiving (most jw's do) and no one bats an eye but as soon as you're honest with them and call it what it is, the game's over. They want to be lied to....they want their ears tickled and they get pretty virtuous when you don't play along.

Family Gathering ( or the day also known as Thanksgiving)
by Theredeemer inevery year on a certain thursday in november my family and close witness friends would get together, eat menudo ( hispanic stew) and other foods, watch football and then get dressed to go to the meeting.. sister so and so would bring her famous pie, bro and sister so and so would bring their gross punch and bro and sis so and so would bring mexican sweet bread.
sometimes we would go to "worldy" aunt's and pick up plates of turkey and fixins.. this was every year on a certain date, on a certain thursday in november.. this continued until my mom got alzheimers.
by that time i was married and had my own house.

What should the WBT$ do to get on track?
by punkofnice init looks as if the gb are blundering around and really showing themselves up for the buffoons they are.
all the stupidity about tight trousers is laughable and if the general public were to see these selfmportant cult leaders blabbing this stuff then the last shred of their credibility would be destroyed.........perhaps.. the wbt$ seem to have dug themselves into a deep pit of no escape with their lies, new light(tm), paedophile protection and all the other nauseating peripherals they have.. we also suspect that the wbt$ have their spies here because they are either predictable or get ideas form forums like this.. so!
are you listening watchtower(r)?

Admit they are and always have been only ordinary men, guessing at what the Bible really says.
Stop trying to intervene in peoples personal relationship with God .
Apologize to those members and former members who's families have been destroyed by thier blunders and stop trying to be God's policemen, enforcing their interpretation of God's will, in peoples personal lives.
Give a regular detailed honest accounting of how donations are spent.
Stop saying that "We don't serve with a date in mind" and "no one know the day and hour" while at the same time saying the "end" is soooo close.
Do more to help people improve their lives now in a real and tangible way rather that promoting the idea that the more they do to promote their agenda, the better their lives will be.

Bill Cosby - too much smoke for no fire?
by Simon init seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.
i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

One good thing about all this buisness with Bill Cosby is that they've stopped talking about Ebola.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower
by wannaexit init's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.
by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.
but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

There's no difficulty in life that can't be made even worse with a little guilt, regret and the comparing of oneself to others.
My biggest regret in life is that I'm not someone else, especially when I start comparing myself to others.
But if I look closely enough I realize that there are quite a few experiences I had and things in my life today that I wouldn't have if my past been different than it was. I also realize that had my past been different, I may likely be ruminating over a whole different set of regrets.
Sometimes in order for things to change for the better, you have to create an uncomfortable vacuume. You have to burn the old forrest down so that a new and better species of trees will grow. Typically this process isn't pretty or comfortable and is often accompanied by doubt and regret.
If one looks hard enough, one can find ants at any picnic however if a person can find even one thing in their life that they wouldn't change for the world, then their life hasn't been a waste of time. Sometimes regretting the things one didn't do, is preferable to regretting things that one has done.

(I havent read all of the posts and apologize if someone has already suggested this )
About 15 years ago my wife was dangerously anemic and weak and in a lot of pain each month. They discovered it was caused by Fibroids. They treated her with a new non invasive procedure at the time called Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) that was invented by a Physician in our area. Basically they release tiny granuals into the main artery of the Uterus, via a tiny incision in the groin. The granuals are carried into the tiny capilaries that feed the fibroids and blocks them off. This basically starves the fibroids of blood and they shrink (they are eventually absorbed by the body I believe) .
It worked like charm. The recovery time was short as there was no surgery. The results were immediate. Her blood count became normal, her cycles were normal again...actually lighter and less uncomfortable (etc) than they ever had been. It's been 15 years and she's never had a problem with this since.

Funny how Jehovah lovingly provides "New Light" when the old light has been or is about to be, proven false.
But it seem's like lately they've even had some "New Light" about the term "New Light" itself. They seem to prefer to use the term "Adjustments" these days.

What's Your Definition of TTATT ?
by Pete Zahut ini need to explain this to someone later and need a concice way of putting it.
f you had to give a "in a nutshell" definition of ttatt, what would you say or what main points would you use to define it ?.
( thanks in advance for your help ).
-
Pete Zahut
Some people say things changed forever once they learnend TTATT. For instance some say it was when they found out about the Watchtower/UN affiliation. Other's say it was when they learned about Beth Sarim or about the Gay former GB member(s). If you were to make a list of the top three disillusioning things you found out about the religion you once thought of as "The Truth",what would they be?
